SESARM Task 2 A Help
Task 2 A - Production run time series of spatial averages over selected states and RPOs

This task generates plots of Modeled and Observed pairs for time periods covering each five-day segment, each month and the entire year.

The following fields are presented:

temperature (degrees Celsius)
dew point temperature (degrees Celsius)
relative humidity (%)
specific humidity (g/kg)
wind speed (m/s)
wind direction (degrees)

Each field is plotted on a separate set of axes.

Hourly Modeled and Observed values are plotted on axes that cover each five-day period, while daily values are plotted for axes that cover each month and the entire year.

Note: A bug that affects correlation coefficient for specific humidity was uncovered and reported to the WRF-MET developer at NCAR. During the spatial average computations inside WRF-MET, very small values of specific humidity, which are especially common during the winter months, were erroneously identified as bad values, which were then propagated as NA (not available) values in the output spatial average. The result in the plots is that some days contain missing values of correlation coefficient for specific humidity. Spatial averages that are plotted are not known to be affected in any way. Subsequent temporal averages that AER has computed simply ignore the NA values and consider them missing.
